Apple Accuses India Of Copy Pasting Rivals Claims In Antitrust Probe

Apple is challenging findings from an antitrust investigation in India, accusing competition regulators of copy-pasting allegations originally filed by its rivals. The Cupertino, California-based company filed a submission asking the Competition Commission of India (CCI) to quash the probe's conclusion, which found that Apple engaged in abusive conduct related to the iOS App Store. A closed-door hearing on the matter is scheduled for July 21.

In the filing cited by Reuters, Apple argued that the regulator relied on complaints from competitors verbatim in some instances. The company contends it faces less than 6% share of the smartphone market in India, using the low market position to dispute the scope of the abusive conduct claims. The outcome of the investigation could affect how Apple structures payments and developer fees for apps distributed through its iOS platform in the South Asian market.
