Robinhood Launches Blockchain Mainnet, Adding $10 Billion to Market Cap
Robinhood launched the mainnet for Robinhood Chain, integrating with blockchain infrastructure provider SOCKET to enable zero-fee trading of tokenized stocks, exchange-traded funds, and other real-world assets across connected applications. Built using Arbitrum’s Orbit technology for Ethereum Layer 2 scaling, the network deployment added approximately $10 billion to the fintech company’s market capitalization as its stock rose 8%.
The launch coincides with broader geographic and product expansions, including the availability of tokenized U.S. stocks across more than 120 countries and the rollout of perpetual futures referencing commodities and currencies for eligible European users. While the Ethereum L2 integration serves as a major validation of Arbitrum’s architecture for traditional finance, the $ARB token saw minimal price movement, with market observers noting that investors now expect concrete transaction fees rather than ecosystem announcements to drive valuations.
