Robinhood Launches Crypto App in Canada After Acquiring WonderFi
Robinhood has officially launched in Canada, introducing a crypto-only mobile trading application. The expansion follows the fintech company's acquisition of WonderFi, which brings its Bitbuy and Coinsquare digital asset businesses under the Robinhood umbrella. Starting this week, Canadian users can access the platform with a flat trading fee of 0.5% per CAD transaction, alongside a promotional period offering zero fees for new accounts.
The entry into Canada represents a key milestone in Robinhood's international retail expansion, leveraging the existing infrastructure and user base acquired from WonderFi. Previously available only in the United States, the Canadian launch allows Robinhood to enter the digital-asset market in a new jurisdiction, competing with established local exchanges by offering a streamlined mobile experience and a lower fee structure.
