Credit Agricole Launches EURXT Euro Stablecoin on Ethereum
Crédit Agricole, France’s largest banking group with a €5.3 trillion market capitalization, launched EURXT, a stablecoin pegged to the euro, on the Ethereum blockchain. The token is issued by the bank’s custodial subsidiary CACEIS and built on the ERC-20 standard. It is initially being made available to investor and corporate clients of CACEIS.
The launch marks another major European bank entering the market for regulated fiat-backed digital assets on a public chain. EURXT joins a growing roster of fiat pegged tokens and dollar stablecoins that financial institutions are developing to bridge traditional finance and decentralized markets. CACEIS has previously established itself as a leading provider of custody and settlement services for digital assets in the European Union.
