Russia Launches 74 Missiles and 496 Drones at Ukraine, Killing at Least 13 in Kyiv
An overnight Russian barrage damaged more than 20 sites across Kyiv, most of them residential buildings, after Ukraine's air force counted 74 missiles and 496 drones launched across the country. President Volodymyr Zelensky said the main blow was aimed at the capital, where at least 13 people were killed and more than 90 wounded; an ambulance station, a hotel and businesses were also hit, and rescue crews were still searching beneath the rubble.
Moscow described the assault as targeting military-industrial and energy facilities in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, as well as military airfields in Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Cherkasy and Chernihiv. Zelensky said strikes also hit Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia and Cherkasy, while Ukraine's power company DTEK reported damage to energy facilities in Kyiv that left some residents without power and Kyiv officials said 52,500 people, including 4,500 children, spent the night in metro stations, the highest number in recent years.
