Ethlabs Launches as New Ethereum Nonprofit Alongside Ethereum Foundation
Ethlabs, a newly announced nonprofit organization, has emerged as a second major research and development node for Ethereum, operating alongside the Ethereum Foundation.
Co-founders Ansgar Dietrichs and Caspar Schwartz introduced Ethlabs during a podcast episode published Sunday, framing the organization’s mission around protocol scaling, interoperability, and adoption. The group was created to address infrastructure gaps and accelerate Ethereum growth. According to Dietrichs, the launch is a direct response to the Ethereum Foundation narrowing its own research focus. He emphasized that the two nonprofits would work synergistically rather than compete for control over the network’s direction.
