The supply disruption arrives after government officials confirmed the death toll from twin 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes that struck on June 24 has reached 2,295.
Despite the logistical setbacks, local and international emergency crews continue operations as the focus gradually shifts toward recovery and body retrieval. In a notable breakthrough late Tuesday, a 44-year-old security guard was pulled alive from under 29 feet of rubble at a collapsed mall after eight days buried, marking one of the longest survival records against the odds. With the window for finding additional survivors rapidly closing and preliminary NASA satellite data indicating the tremors damaged or destroyed nearly 59,000 buildings, authorities have declared a week of national mourning while emergency teams assess the full scale of the disaster.
