Iran exports 40 million barrels of crude oil after US lifts naval blockade
Iran has exported more than 40 million barrels of crude oil in under two weeks, parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Tuesday, following the removal of a United States naval blockade that had halted all maritime shipments from Persian Gulf ports. Tanker tracking data shows the volume has reached 50 million barrels, generating roughly $3.5 billion and equating to nearly double Iran’s pre-conflict export rate of 1.7 million barrels per day.
The export surge followed a June 17 memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran to end nearly four months of conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz for 60 days. Ghalibaf stated the crude is now being sold at a roughly 20% premium compared to war-era prices and affirmed that Iran will continue to assert sovereignty over the strategic waterway as negotiations toward a permanent peace deal proceed.
