Saudi Crude Exports Return to Pre-War Levels as Strait of Hormuz Shipping Recovers
Saudi Arabia’s crude oil exports surged to approximately 6.3 million barrels per day over the first six days of July, returning to near pre-war levels as the Kingdom resumed cargo loadings inside the Persian Gulf. The export ramp-up follows an interim truce between Washington and Tehran that eased immediate shipping disruptions across the region.
According to maritime data firm Kpler, vessel crossings through the Strait of Hormuz recovered to an average of 40 per day, up from post-attack lows but still below the roughly 100 crossings per day recorded before the conflict. The return to normal flow aligns with Saudi Aramco’s recent spot sales to Asian buyers, with supertankers now loading crude at the Ras Tanura hub alongside existing pipeline exports that bypass the waterway. Commercial traffic has stabilized, though routing remains fragmented between Iranian and Omani shipping lanes, and uncertainty persists over navigation authority in the chokepoint.
