US Spot Bitcoin ETFs Record $4.51 Billion in Net Outflows in June

U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded $4.51 billion in net outflows in June, marking the worst monthly performance since the products launched in January 2024. Spot Ethereum ETFs followed a similar downward trend, shedding approximately $4.5 billion in withdrawals. The monthly tally concluded with a ninth consecutive day of outflows for both assets after Bitcoin ETFs posted $223 million in redemptions on June 30, with Ethereum ETFs closing the month at $27.6 million in outflows.

The sustained selling pressure pushed Bitcoin into a steep decline, with the cryptocurrency falling more than 18% during the month and closing below its 200-week moving average for the first time since 2023. The largest fund, BlackRock's IBIT, accounted for $3.1 billion of the outflow, while Bitcoin briefly traded near $58,000 before settling around $60,000. Retail capital largely retreated, leaving institutions to manage the drawdown. Coinciding with the ETF redemptions, major corporate holder Strategy authorized up to $1.25 billion in Bitcoin sales to cover financing costs strained by the prolonged market downturn.
