Baidu Inc. shares surged more than 7% in Hong Kong trading on Monday after reports emerged that its artificial intelligence chip subsidiary, Kunlunxin, is targeting an initial public offering with a valuation of $50 billion. The prospective listing, reported by The Information, would mark one of the most significant AI hardware debuts in China’s capital markets.

According to the report, citing two sources, underwriters have asked prospective investors in the Hong Kong offering to commit to purchasing semiconductors from Kunlunxin worth between three and seven times the value of their IPO investment. The condition underscores strong demand for the affiliate’s domestic chips. Kunlunxin Technology has not yet publicly confirmed the IPO plans.
