Four Dormant Ethereum Wallets Sell 33,623 ETH, Reducing Unrealized Profit to $27.4 Million
Four long-dormant Ethereum wallets began selling 33,623 ETH over the past four hours, reducing a previously unrealized profit of more than $150 million to a realized gain of about $27.4 million. The wallets, first acquired roughly eight years ago at $830 per ether and totaling 37,602 ETH, were tracked by on-chain analytics firm Lookonchain and data provider Arkham after waking from dormancy. The sales occurred at approximately $1,560 per token, significantly below the $150 million peak that accumulated during the 2021 and 2025 bull markets.
The wallets received their holdings on June 26, 2018, at a purchase price of around $830. Data from Lookonchain indicates that the holders never sold despite the asset appreciating substantially during previous cycles. The current selling activity follows a market price drop below the $1,600 level earlier this week, prompting the dormant wallets to take profits while still maintaining a positive return on their eight-year hold.
