U.S. Crude Falls Below $70 Again Despite Cargo Ship Attack Near Oman
West Texas Intermediate, the main U.S. crude benchmark, slipped back under $70 a barrel on Thursday, extending a selloff even after CNBC reported an attack on a cargo ship near Oman.
Earlier this week Brent dropped below $75 and back to prewar levels as traffic through the Strait of Hormuz rebounded. Kpler data cited by analysts showed 70 crossings on June 24, up 105% day on day, and Bloomberg reported Persian Gulf crude exports had recovered to at least 75% of prewar levels, though vessel trackers said outbound traffic was recovering faster than inbound flows.
