Iran Fires Missiles and Drones at Bahrain and Kuwait; U.S. Hits 10 Iranian Targets
U.S. Navy and Air Force fighter jets struck 10 Iranian military targets at multiple locations in and near the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for Iran's drone attack on the tanker M/T Kiku, and the confrontation quickly widened when Bahrain and Kuwait reported new missile and drone attacks.
Bahrain's interior ministry sounded sirens and urged citizens and residents to head to the nearest safe place. Kuwait's military said its air defenses were engaging incoming threats. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or IRGC, said its naval and aerospace forces had carried out a joint missile and drone operation against what it described as U.S. military sites in Kuwait and Bahrain, and warned that further attacks would draw a crushing response while actions against vessels would intensify.
A U.S. official told Reuters there were no reported U.S. casualties or major damage to American sites in the region so far, and that the situation was still unfolding. Fox News reported that an earlier Iranian wave against U.S. forces in Bahrain the previous night was also repelled, with nine one-way attack drones shot down and no damage or injuries.
