Bitcoin Falls to $58,344 as Crypto Liquidations Exceed $1 Billion
Bitcoin fell to a 21-month low of approximately $58,344 after failing to hold the $60,000 threshold, compounding a sharp reversal that has pushed the cryptocurrency back below $59,000. The digital asset declined roughly 50% from its all-time highs recorded in late 2024, marking the beginning of a prolonged downturn that has increasingly pressured leveraged investors across the market.
The selloff intensified after Bitcoin briefly rebounded above $61,000 earlier in the session. Prices then plunged to the low $58,000s within a single hour, wiping out over $1.26 billion in leveraged positions according to Coinglass data. Long positions accounted for the vast majority of the losses, with more than $430 million erased in the past hour alone as traders faced mounting margin calls.
