SK Hynix Plans $29.4 Billion Nasdaq Listing
Memory chipmaker SK Hynix plans to raise $29.4 billion through a Nasdaq listing of American Depositary Receipts, with trading expected to begin on July 10. The semiconductor maker filed Form F-1 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for the offering, which would make it the largest ADR issuance in history and surpass Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.’s $25 billion IPO in 2014. The filing outlines the issuance of 17.79 million new depositary receipts, representing roughly 2.5% of the company's outstanding shares.
SK Hynix intends to allocate the proceeds entirely toward constructing semiconductor facilities, including Phase 1 of its Yongin manufacturing cluster and an advanced packaging plant in Cheongju, alongside investments in EUV scanners. As one of the world's two primary memory chipmakers alongside Samsung Electronics Co., SK Hynix currently controls approximately 60% of the global market for high-bandwidth memory chips used in artificial intelligence data centers and trades at a valuation near $1.2 trillion.
