Mirendil Raises $200 Million Seed at $1 Billion Valuation
Mirendil announced a $200 million seed funding round at a $1 billion valuation, led by Andreessen Horowitz and Kleiner Perkins, with NVIDIA also participating. The company was founded by Behnam Neyshabur, formerly a researcher at Anthropic, alongside co-founders Harsh Mehta, Shayan Salehian, and Tara Rezaei.
The startup is building software designed to train frontier artificial intelligence models specifically for the task of AI research and development. Using these specialized models, the system automates the loop between research and engineering, allowing AI to independently propose, test, and iterate on scientific and code problems. Neyshabur describes the goal as creating "the system that builds systems" to accelerate progress across scientific domains.
Mirendil's founding team brings together 20 researchers and engineers from Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI, and Google DeepMind. The funding underscores investor interest in autonomous AI development agents, which the founders argue should be democratized beyond a handful of large AI labs to open-source developers and independent scientific groups.
