Iran Boosts Hormuz Crude Exports to Highest Since War Began, Oil Slips Below $80
Oil slipped back below $80 a barrel after the first Swiss talks under the U.S.-Iran interim peace deal eased supply concerns, while Iran raised crude shipments through the Strait of Hormuz to the highest since the war began. Sellers of Iranian crude to China also cut prices following the agreement.
Shipping through Hormuz remains a fraction of pre-conflict levels, even after the 18-hour session produced a 60-day roadmap toward a final deal, further technical talks and a mechanism aimed at safe passage through the strait. Lower crude prices could save airlines billions of dollars on jet fuel, though passengers are unlikely to see immediate fare relief because tight capacity is keeping fares above pre-war levels.
