Kunlunxin Technology, the artificial intelligence chip unit of Baidu, is targeting a $50 billion valuation in a planned initial public offering on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, according to people familiar with the matter. As part of the fundraising effort, the company is asking prospective investors to pledge that they will purchase AI chips worth three to seven times the amount of their equity investment.

The proposed listing represents one of the largest valuations for a Chinese artificial intelligence hardware startup. Investors would be required to commit to substantial future hardware acquisitions alongside the public offering, marking a significant step for Kunlunxin as it accelerates development of AI accelerators designed to compete in the global chip market.
