South Korea's June Memory-Chip Exports Are on Pace to Top May's $37.16 Billion Record
South Korea's June memory semiconductor exports are on course to set a monthly record, based on Korea Customs Service preliminary clearance data for June 1-20. Combined exports of major memory products exceeded $23 billion in the period, already more than 60% of May's record $37.16 billion, and the current pace implies roughly $38 billion to $42 billion for the full month.
The gains were broad-based. Earlier June 1-20 customs figures showed dynamic random-access memory, or DRAM, exports including modules up 342% from a year earlier, NAND flash up 336%, solid-state drives up 405% and multi-chip packages including high-bandwidth memory, or HBM, up 209%, while unit prices also climbed sharply. Memory accounted for about 90% of semiconductor exports this month, and in broader trade data South Korea's total exports rose 60.4% and imports 23.2% in the first 20 days of June, leaving a provisional trade surplus of $17.5 billion.
