OpenAI burned $3.7 billion in the first quarter while generating $5.7 billion in revenue, according to documents cited by The Information. The documents showed the company ended March with more than $73 billion in cash and marketable securities, up from about $40 billion at the end of December.
The cash balance gives OpenAI room to keep spending, though its path to profitability is likely to face heavier scrutiny ahead of an IPO.
