SpaceX Agrees to Buy AI Coding Startup Cursor for $60 Billion in All-Stock Deal
SpaceX said in an 8-K filing that it has exercised its option to acquire Anysphere, the company behind AI coding startup Cursor, in an all-stock transaction that gives the target an implied equity value of $60 billion. At closing, the target’s shares will be converted into SpaceX Class A common stock based on SpaceX’s volume-weighted average closing price over the seven trading days immediately preceding the merger.
SpaceX said it has been jointly training a model with Cursor for the past few months, with plans to release it in Cursor and Grok Build soon, linking the acquisition to a broader AI coding push. The merger is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026.
