US Keeps Export Curbs on Anthropic’s Fable 5 and Mythos 5, Rejects UK Carve-Out
The Trump administration kept export controls on Anthropic’s most advanced AI models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5, in place after talks failed to resolve ongoing jailbreak concerns. Under a letter from Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Anthropic needs government permission before granting foreign nationals access to the systems, and the company shut them off for all customers to comply with the order.
Washington has also resisted allied exemptions. Reports said the administration rejected a request from UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer for a carve-out for British nationals and companies and would not restore access for G7 countries. More than 100 cybersecurity leaders have urged the US to restore access to the models, warning the restrictions could hinder defense work and AI innovation.

@levieEveryone thinks this is some kind of 4D chess or conspiracy. But it’s quite standard to try and jailbreak AI models, and by definition they would share that research with the government given that’s whole point. I don’t think Amazon assumed
