Z.ai Releases MIT-Licensed GLM-5.2 Open Weights With 1M-Token Context
Z.ai has released the MIT-licensed open-weight version of GLM-5.2, making available the model it had said days earlier would be open-sourced the following week. The company is positioning GLM-5.2 for coding and agentic tasks, with a 1 million-token context window, two reasoning settings called High and Max, and the same API pricing as GLM-5.1.
Z.ai said it strengthened 1M-context training for large-scale implementation, automated research, performance optimization and complex debugging. Benchmark figures cited alongside the release put GLM-5.2 at 81.0 on Terminal-Bench 2.1, versus 62.0 for GLM-5.1, while Agent Arena ranked the Max version No. 10 overall and the top open model; a FrontierSWE result cited with the launch put it at 74.4%, just behind Opus 4.8 at 75.1% and ahead of GPT-5.5 at 72.6%. Earlier benchmark summaries had also said the model posted three A-tier results across five public engineering projects and passed two harder hidden projects.
