Trump Threatens More Iran Strikes, Floats US Takeover of Hormuz and 20% of Oil
President Donald Trump said he warned Iranian officials not to close the Strait of Hormuz, adding that the US could take over the waterway, collect tolls and take 20% of the oil moving through it if negotiations fail. Trump also threatened to hit Iran "very hard again" unless Tehran restrains what he called proxies in Lebanon.
Iran's delegation at talks in Switzerland lodged a protest with the US and is weighing its next steps, state broadcaster Press TV reported, without specifying the nature of the protest or the options under consideration. Senator Lindsey Graham, who said he spent four and a half hours with Trump on Friday, told CBS's Face the Nation that if diplomacy fails the US would take the strait by force and charge fees for transit.
