US Justice Department Asks Judge to Dismiss Halkbank Criminal Case Over Alleged Iran Sanctions Violations
The US Department of Justice formally asked a federal judge to dismiss its criminal case against Halkbank, seeking to end a long-running prosecution of the Turkish state-run lender over alleged Iran sanctions violations.
The department said it has no intention of prosecuting Halkbank. If the judge approves the request, the move would allow the government to drop the case against the Turkish state-owned lender.
