Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 Surfaces Potential Percolator Engine Bug Within First Hour
In early user testing, Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 surfaced what appeared to be a credible bug in the Percolator engine, described as an LOF issue, within the model's first hour probing the system. The tester said a week of running Opus 4.8 and GPT-5.5 against Percolator had produced little.
The result offers an early real-world example after Anthropic released Fable 5 as the public configuration of the same underlying model as Mythos 5. Anthropic has said Fable 5 reroutes some cybersecurity, biology, chemistry and distillation-related prompts to Opus 4.8, with those visible fallbacks occurring in fewer than 5% of sessions on average, while the less-restricted Mythos 5 remains limited to Glasswing partners for now.

@gavinsbakerEvidently prices will go up in about two weeks. Also I preferred Mythos to Fable. Fable makes me think of fabulist, which is not the best association. Excited to try it!
@hosseebHoly shit. Mythos just dropped (commercially restricted release called Fable), and these benchmarks are making every other lab look like amateurs. Really feels like it's Anthropic's world and we're all just living in it. Can't wait to see

@hangsiinWhen Fable 5 is used for frontier LLM development, it does not notify the user and instead limits the model’s capabilities through methods such as prompt modification, steering vectors, and PEFT. Anthropic estimated that this would affect
