Oil Flows Through Strait of Hormuz Surge About 50% This Month, Vortexa Says

businessenergy-marketsoilpoliticsmaritimeworldmiddle-east 41 posts · 22 accounts

Oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz have surged by about 50% this month, according to Vortexa Ltd., marking a shift from weeks of scattered cargo movements to a broader rise in volumes through the waterway. Earlier indications that some barrels were getting through included Kuwait offering crude to Asian refiners again and a 2 million-barrel Gulf cargo bound for Rotterdam, which Kpler identified as the first such shipment to Europe since March.

The increase suggests the recovery is moving beyond isolated loadings, though the route remains far from normal. US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said this week that ship traffic through the strait was rising "very meaningfully" while warning that global energy flows may take many months to fully return to normal, and traders have said traffic may not normalize until the end of the year.
