Iran-Linked Hanzala Claims California Water Infrastructure Breach, Releases Screenshots Listing 4 Cities

techcybersecurityworldiran 3 posts · 2 accounts

The Iran-linked hacker group Hanzala claimed it had breached water infrastructure systems in California in response to what it described as a US attack on Iranian civilians and water facilities. Screenshots released by the group appeared to show access to a network management interface listing sites in Bakersfield, Chico, Salinas and Stockton.

The images do not independently verify that the group penetrated California water infrastructure or had the ability to disrupt water services. The hackers said they had refrained from interfering with water supplies and described their action as a warning to Washington, adding that any further action against Iran would be met with reciprocal attacks on vital infrastructure.
