SpaceX Enters 40 ETFs a Day After IPO as Nasdaq-100 Rule Changes Could Force $8.5 Billion of Buying
SpaceX moved into 40 exchange-traded funds within a day of its market debut, underscoring how quickly asset managers are absorbing the stock after its record $75 billion initial public offering. ETF analyst Eric Balchunas said a wave of funds bought shares after Thursday’s listing, including about $450 million by BlackRock’s BIA, while SpaceX stock rose 19% in its first session to push the company’s valuation past $2 trillion.
The buying could build further. Nasdaq’s latest rule changes tied to the Nasdaq-100 could force roughly $8.5 billion of buying linked to SpaceX’s IPO, The Information reported. The rapid ETF uptake contrasts with earlier blockbuster listings such as Meta and Alibaba that took weeks to enter funds, and SpaceX’s $1.75 trillion IPO valuation is already becoming a benchmark for other private space companies.
