OpenAI Plans Biggest ChatGPT Overhaul Since Launch to Build a Superapp Ahead of Listing
OpenAI is preparing the biggest overhaul of ChatGPT since launch, aiming to turn the chatbot into a superapp that combines coding tools and AI agents and adds products intended to generate more revenue, the Financial Times reported. The changes are being readied ahead of a planned listing this year for the company, which the report said is valued at about $850 billion.
The revamp is part of a broader effort to find a new growth engine, win more high-margin enterprise customers and compete more aggressively with Anthropic, according to the report. OpenAI plans to give Codex more prominence and increase investment in programming products as it bets more of AI's future lies in task-executing agents than in question-and-answer chatbots.
