Trump Floats $1 Trillion Value for Fannie, Freddie and Keeps IPOs on Table
Common shares of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac rose sharply at Friday's open after Trump said the two mortgage finance companies were probably worth $1 trillion, before giving back much of the advance as skepticism mounted.
Trump later said IPOs for Fannie and Freddie were not off the table, but that there was no rush. That kept alive speculation over possible offerings for the two firms, even as skepticism over the $1 trillion valuation persisted.
