Fed Beige Book Shows Slight to Moderate Growth in 10 of 12 Districts as Inflation Pressures Strengthen
Economic activity increased at a slight to moderate pace in 10 of the Federal Reserve's 12 districts in recent weeks, according to the Fed's Beige Book, while one district reported a slight decline and one reported no change. Employment showed little to no change in 11 districts, with modest growth in one, and prices rose at a moderate to strong pace overall.
Most districts reported higher inflation than in the prior report, while business outlooks for the next six months showed little change in anticipated growth. Elevated uncertainty and signs of weakening consumer spending weighed on sentiment, the report said.
