Nvidia Seeks 20x InP Laser Capacity Increase by 2030 for Co-Packaged Optics, Rosenblatt Checks Show
Rosenblatt supply-chain checks indicate Nvidia has asked suppliers to increase InP laser capacity by about 20-fold from 2025 to 2030 to support scale-up co-packaged optics. Vendors have taken a more conservative stance, agreeing to about a 12-fold increase, according to the checks.
The figures suggest Nvidia is pushing for a faster capacity buildout than suppliers are currently willing to commit to, making the gap a notable demand signal for InP laser makers. Rosenblatt described Nvidia as the driving force behind the CPO scale-up, but the planned supplier expansion still falls short of the level the company requested.
