Russia Weighs Diesel, Jet Fuel Export Curbs as Refinery Runs Fall to Multi-Year Lows
Russia is considering limiting exports of diesel and jet fuel as refinery run rates fall to multi-year lows amid Ukraine's escalating attacks, according to Interfax. The news service said oil companies were advised after a Tuesday meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak to curb sales of oil products to foreign markets, and cited one person as saying a ban on diesel and jet fuel exports is at an advanced stage, though no implementation date has been set.
Any restrictions could tighten global fuel markets because Russia is a major diesel supplier, selling roughly 40% of its diesel output abroad. Potential diesel curbs would be more consequential than gasoline limits, since Russia exports negligible gasoline volumes by comparison, while the timing and scope of any measures remain unclear.
