SpaceX Held Merger Talks With Tesla Before xAI Deal, Investors Pushed Tesla Option
Bloomberg reported on Jan. 30 that Tesla and SpaceX had held talks prior to the SpaceX xAI deal and that SpaceX had also considered an alternative combination with xAI. A group of investors pushed the Tesla option as a better idea than xAI, but nothing was finalized.
CNBC separately reported that Elon Musk had discussed with colleagues the possibility of folding Tesla and SpaceX into one company. No timeline or transaction terms for any potential combination were disclosed.
