Open-Source Kimi K2.6 Jumps 18 Places to No. 1 on Design Arena’s 3D Design Leaderboard
Kimi K2.6, an open-source model, climbed to No. 1 on Design Arena’s 3D Design leaderboard, an 18-place improvement from the prior Kimi K2.5. Design Arena said K2.6 ranked ahead of Anthropic’s Opus 4.7, Google DeepMind’s Gemini 3.5 Flash and OpenAI’s GPT 5.5, which it described as models that are about 10 times more expensive.
The result points to 3D design as an area where open-weight models are particularly competitive. Design Arena said the category is largely dominated by open-weight systems, citing GLM 5.1 from Zai.org and Xiaomi’s MiMo v2.5 alongside Kimi K2.6.
