Nvidia Adopts Linux Foundation’s OpenMDW-1.1 Across 4 Open Model Families
Nvidia is adopting the Linux Foundation’s OpenMDW-1.1 across its four open model families — Cosmos, Isaac GR00T, Ising and Nemotron — in an effort to make licensing simpler and more consistent for developers and enterprises. The framework uses a single permissive legal structure for models, code, documentation and data.
OpenMDW-1.1 is designed as a unified framework for AI models, addressing the mix of software licenses and bespoke terms that can require case-by-case legal review before developers build on open-weight releases. Arcee also said its Trinity model is moving to OpenMDW-1.1.
