TSMC First-Quarter Employee Bonuses Rise 30% as CEO Calls Staff Meeting
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. told employees that first-quarter bonuses rose about 30% from a year earlier on average and will be paid on May 29, according to media reports citing an internal memo from Chief Executive Officer C.C. Wei. Wei also scheduled a staff meeting for May 27 to answer questions about the payouts.
The communication followed internal concern over rumors that employee bonuses would be cut 15%, which TSMC had already denied. The company has said this year's employee profit-sharing bonuses were not reduced and that full-year payouts should exceed last year's level; TSMC separately pays a quarterly bonus tied to individual and company performance and a profit-sharing bonus in the following year.
