Fed's Bowman Says Inflation Progress Has Stalled, Too Soon to Judge Iran War's Inflation Impact
Federal Reserve Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman said progress on lowering inflation has stalled, but it is too soon to judge the inflationary impact of the Iran war and policymakers should look through temporary price shocks. She also warned against hiking interest rates because of an inflation spike.
Bowman said a longer Middle East conflict would raise inflation risks and could prompt her to shift her views if it persists. She added that an end to the war could ease energy prices.
