Federal Judge Blocks Trump’s $1.8 Billion Anti-Weaponization Fund, Probes IRS Settlement
A federal judge in Virginia temporarily barred the Trump administration from setting up or operating President Donald Trump’s nearly $1.8 billion Anti-Weaponization Fund while she considers a longer-lasting block. She also ordered Trump to respond to allegations that the IRS settlement used to create the fund, which is intended to compensate people he says were victims of government “weaponization,” was a fraud on the court.
The program is drawing scrutiny because Trump’s allies and supporters stand to receive payouts based on claims they were mistreated by the government. The controversy has already stalled a roughly $70 billion Senate Republican reconciliation package for ICE and CBP, and top White House aides have discussed whether Trump should abandon the fund.
