Google launches Gemini 3.5 Flash as Gemini app passes 900 million users
Google formally launched Gemini 3.5 Flash at its I/O conference, making official a model that had surfaced earlier in Google Cloud Console. The company said the model is generally available starting Tuesday and described it as its strongest agentic and coding model yet, delivering frontier-level performance at four times the speed of comparable frontier models and often at less than half the cost.
Google also said Gemini app users have more than doubled in a year to surpass 900 million. Across its surfaces, the company said it is now processing more than 3.2 quadrillion tokens a month, up from 480 trillion at last year’s I/O, a sevenfold increase.
