Nvidia May Sell Some Vera Rubin AI Systems Without DRAM as Memory Costs Rise
Nvidia is reportedly preparing to sell some Vera Rubin AI systems without DRAM, allowing customers to source that memory separately as rising memory prices make DRAM an unusually large share of the bill of materials. The reported change would separate system DRAM from parts of the server sale rather than include it by default.
Earlier reporting tied the move to system-level optimizations in Vera Rubin, with Nvidia said to be considering lower system DDR memory in some configurations while keeping HBM capacity unchanged. The development highlights how higher memory prices are influencing AI server configuration and procurement decisions.
