Trump Settles $10 Billion IRS Suit as DOJ Launches $1.8 Billion Anti-Weaponization Fund

politicsus-judiciary 29 posts · 21 accounts

President Donald Trump, his two eldest sons and the Trump Organization dropped their $10 billion lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service in a settlement announced Monday. The case, filed in Miami federal court, had been brought over an alleged leak of tax returns.

The settlement includes a $1.8 billion Anti-Weaponization Fund for people who claim they were targeted by government weaponization or victimized by the Justice Department. The Justice Department said the plaintiffs will receive a formal apology but no monetary payment or damages, that there are no partisan requirements to file a claim and that any money left when the fund ends will revert to the federal government.
