Oil Extends Rally as US Crude Hits $107.52 After UAE Strike, Iran Diplomacy Stalls
Oil extended its advance on Monday, with U.S. crude futures rising more than $2 to $107.52 a barrel, the strongest level since April 30, after the drone attack on the United Arab Emirates’ Barakah nuclear power plant and as diplomatic efforts over Iran appeared stalled. Concerns about a prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz also supported prices, while President Donald Trump was expected to discuss military options on Iran.
The latest gains followed Sunday’s jump that took oil to a two-week high after Abu Dhabi said three drones entered the UAE from the western border, with two intercepted and a third striking an electrical generator outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah plant in Al Dhafra. UAE authorities said there were no injuries and no impact on radiological safety, the International Atomic Energy Agency said radiation levels remained normal, and Saudi Arabia later said it intercepted three drones that entered its airspace from Iraq.
