Socket, a cybersecurity startup focused on safeguarding open-source code, raised a $60 million Series C led by Thrive Capital with participation from a16z, AbstractVC and Capital One Ventures. The round values the company at $1 billion and brings total funding to $125 million.

As AI speeds the pace at which code is written and deployed, Socket said demand for its software supply-chain security tools has risen. Since its Series B, the company said it has grown to more than 20,000 organizations, protects over 1.5 million repositories and blocks more than 1,000 supply-chain attacks a week; it plans to use the new funding to invest further in its Firewall product, expand Certified Patches and launch additional products.
