Berkshire Returns to Airlines With $2.6 Billion Delta Stake, Boosts Alphabet
Berkshire Hathaway returned to airline stocks in the first quarter with about a $2.6 billion stake in Delta Air Lines, while also boosting its Alphabet investment and taking a new position in Macy’s in Greg Abel’s first quarter as chief executive. Berkshire’s portfolio disclosure also showed the conglomerate exiting Amazon, UnitedHealth and Domino’s Pizza.
The filing adds detail to a quarter in which Berkshire was already known to be a net seller of equities, selling $24.1 billion of stocks and buying $15.9 billion for net sales of $8.1 billion, extending its streak of net stock sales to 14 straight quarters. Berkshire also sold about $8 billion of Chevron shares and fully exited stakes including Visa and Mastercard.
