Recursive Raises $650 Million at $4 Billion Valuation for Self-Improving AI
Recursive, an AI startup with teams in London and San Francisco, has raised more than $650 million at a $4 billion valuation, according to a New York Times report, as it sets out to build systems that can safely improve themselves. The company says it wants to turn compute into knowledge through an open-ended process of automated scientific discovery.
Backers named so far include GV, Greycroft, Nvidia and AMD. Recursive says it aims to automate the scientific method, starting with AI research itself. The financing provides concrete terms for a company that had earlier been reported to be seeking capital at about a $4 billion valuation, underscoring investor demand for new AI labs.
