IEA Says Russian Oil Output Falls 460,000 bpd as Crude Exports Rise
The International Energy Agency said Russian crude output fell by 460,000 barrels a day from a year earlier in April to about 8.8 million barrels a day, even as crude exports rose by 250,000 barrels a day from March to 4.9 million barrels a day. Oil-product exports fell by 340,000 barrels a day to 2.2 million barrels a day, the lowest on record, because of a gasoline export embargo and reduced refinery runs.
The Russia figures add detail to the IEA's broader warning that the oil market is tightening as the Iran war disrupts Gulf flows. In the same monthly report, the agency said global supply fell by 1.8 million barrels a day in April to 95.1 million barrels a day and cumulative losses since February reached 12.8 million barrels a day, while observed inventories dropped by 129 million barrels in March and 117 million in April. Separately, satellite imagery compiled by Bloomberg from European Union Sentinel data showed no ocean-going tankers at Iran's Kharg Island export terminal on May 8, 9 or 11, the longest stretch without loadings since the conflict began.
