Strategy Won’t Be Net Bitcoin Seller, Saylor Says After $1.5 Billion Note Buyback
Michael Saylor said Strategy would "never be a net seller" of Bitcoin after the company agreed to repurchase about $1.5 billion principal amount of its 2029 convertible senior notes for an estimated $1.38 billion in cash. The comment clarifies the company’s position after it disclosed that the buyback could be funded with cash reserves, proceeds from at-the-market equity sales and/or Bitcoin sales.
The repurchase would retire the debt at a discount of roughly 92 cents on the dollar. Strategy has said it expects to cancel the 0% convertible senior notes due 2029 after closing, with settlement expected May 19.
